Sustainability
The design and construction of sustainable facilities is a top priority at CRB and is demonstrated through the everyday activities of our employees. Whether it’s making environmentally friendly changes in our offices and homes or implementing our knowledge in designs and in the field, it’s apparent that sustainability is a core value of our company and a part of the way we do business.
CRB realizes that we have a great challenge and responsibility to increase sustainability in the energy intensive high tech industries which we serve. Around the world, CRB employees are working closely with our clients, regulators, and our peers to collaboratively find new and innovative approaches such as FutureFacilitySM to make safe, quality products that also have a less negative impact on the environment. Unlike other industries where the building envelope and HVAC system are the primary energy and water users, the industries CRB serves are dominated by process and process utility loads. Backed by our unparalleled process expertise, we strive to first minimize the utility needs of a building and then optimize efficiencies which can be the single largest way to reduce these types of facilities’ carbon footprint.
To provide unequaled sustainable services in the high tech market, you have to first employ the best of the best and then educate them in sustainability. We’ve completed the first, and hardest, part of the two step process and are committed to growing the second part. Currently over 18% of our engineers, architects, and builders are LEEDaccredited. CRB has targeted having 50% of our employees become LEED accredited by 2013. CRB’s goal is to produce a seamless integration between building components and systems, and our highly qualified team of engineers, architects, designers and builders can achieve just that.
CRB is a member of USGBC and is a Laboratory for the 21st Century Supporter for Sustainable Building Design and Construction. Additionally, we have significant experience designing facilities in compliance with ASHRAE 90.1 standard, and California Title 24 codes. We utilize leading computer simulation software including SuperPro, eQUEST , EnergyPro, Trace 700, and Elite. We are comfortable designing to LEED requirements (of all levels) for site and building design, as well as process, process utility, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
This holistic view of facility design and construction developed from CRB’s efforts to best meet our clients’ goals and ensure customer satisfaction. CRB is dedicated to delivering innovative, reliable and efficient facilities that benefit your company now and that will continue to do so over time.
